Alice A. Maloney of Ridgway

Alice A. Maloney, age 84, lifelong resident of Ridgway, died peacefully on Thursday, May 25, 2017, 2:17 p.m., at the Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi.

She was born on March 9, 1933 in Ridgway, the daughter of the late John G. and Anna T. (DeVous) Naas. On Jan. 29, 1955 Alice married Richard Louis Maloney who preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 2014.

Alice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker and devoted Christian. She was a member of the Equality Christian Center for many years and her faith was evident to everyone she met. She greeted everyone with her beautiful smile and joyful spirit.

Alice's passions were taking care of her grandchildren and volunteering at the Southeastern Pregnancy Resource Center assisting pregnant and new moms and their babies.

Alice is survived by her two sons, Kevin (Kay) Maloney of Norris City and Michael Maloney of Ridgway; three daughters, Julie (Sonny) Shearer of Norris City, Maria Spahr of Ridgway and Angela (Mike) Knight of Pawnee; two brothers, Charlie (Pat) Naas of Ridgway and Burt (Sue) Naas of Ridgway; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; special care givers Stella Feazel, Mary Jo Redick, Barb Cox and Carol Smith as well as the many nurses and CNA's at Wabash Christian.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Shaun R. Maloney; three sisters, Mary Agnes Wargel, Dolores Wargel and Madonna Wesensten; five brothers, Lawrence, Cedric, Jim, Vic and Greg Naas.

Visitation for Alice was held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 followed by a service at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway. The Rev. Michael Fields officiated. Burial was at St. Patrick Cemetery near Ridgway.

The family would also like to thank Deaconess VNA Hospice and Wabash Christian Retirement Center for the wonderful care given to Alice.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Wabash Christian Retirement Center Helping Hands, Southeastern Pregnancy Resource Center or the Alzheimer's Association.
