New Hope Christian Academy principal speaks to Harrisburg Kiwanis
HARRISBURG - Harrisburg Kiwanis met at Ponderosa on Sept 18 for a weekly meeting and heard from guest speaker Greg Hoffman, principal at New Hope Christian Academy.
Hoffman updated the club about this year's curriculum and activities. He said that he took the principal position at the academy in July of this year. The school offers a Christian-based curriculum that teaches not only academics, but also strives to develop the entire child to be able to function in society into and through adulthood.
The instructors explain the reason each subject is being taught, so students understand the need for specific information. Families are also important in the overall success of the children. Therefore, according to Hoffman, parents/caregivers are encouraged to help them at home and to help motive the kids to reach their potentials. Hoffman told the club that the academy is not intended to replace public schools but to be an alternative to home schooling. The school provides education for pre-K through high school. There are currently 95 students in attendance for this school year.
