Prep Wrestling: Harrisburg falls short to Red Devils

Murphysboro edged Harrisburg 38-36 on the wrestling mat Thursday night at Bonnell Gymnasium.

The Bulldogs picked up three fall wins, two decisions and two forfeits, while the Red Devils picked up five falls, one decision and one forfeit.

The victories for Harrisburg came in the form of a Darren O'Dell (120-pound) 8-3 decision of Steven Bastein.

Gunnar Trammell (138) and Cody Rightnowar (145) both won via forfeit and Ryan Ragsdale (152) won by fall over Marcus Gilmore at 4:45.

Lucian Hicks (195) won by fall over Dehen Mulronney at 1:40 and Jaxon Karnoski (220) won by fall over Bryant Bond at 2:36. Chase McDaniel (285) picked up the final win for Harrisburg with a 6-5 decision win over Mason Oseterhout.

Harrisburg's Dalton Draper (113) lost to Justin Johnson in 3:20, while Chandler Bowling (126) fell to Arieh Hart in 58 seconds.

Tyler Sullivan (132) lost a 4-2 decision contest to Murphysboro's Mauricus Simmons, while Austin Lowry (170) fell to Murphysboro's Brock Barnes in 3:47.

Blane Satterfield (170) lost in 2:35 to Patrick Stanton, while Cade Joiner (182) lost to Dalton Craig in 1:29.

The Bulldogs will return to action Tuesday when they travel to Carterville in a triangular match with Sparta.
