Police continue investigating Carrier Mills gunfire
A shooting on Dec. 28 left four Carrier Mills youths shaken but unharmed.
About 6 p.m. Dec. 28 Carrier Mills police responded to a report of shots fired at the town park on Washington Street. Carrier Mills police sergeant Mike Stover arrived and found four Carrier Mills youths who stated that two black males had approached them while they were playing basketball and opened fire, according to the police report.
After obtaining a description of the suspects, Stover began to patrol the area and found a male matching the description of one suspect walking North on Route 45 and stopped to question him. The male stated that he had not done anything and then fled the scene, according to the report. Stover pursued the suspect to Wiley Street where he lost the man as he cut between some houses.
The police recovered evidence from the scene of the shooting and from Wiley Street and are continuing the investigation. Police are pursuing any possibility of a linkage between this shooting and one that occurred later the same evening in Harrisburg.
At about 8:30 p.m. Dec. 28 Bobby Evans was shot in the chest and an arrest warrant charging attempted first degree murder was issued Dec. 31 for Xzavier Gibbs, 17. Police continue to search for Gibbs.
