Harrisburg man missing since Sunday

Family, friends and law enforcement are concerned for the welfare of a Harrisburg man last seen in the early morning hours Sunday.

Kyle Brown, 19, disappeared midnight to 3:30 a.m. Sunday, reportedly wearing a thin gray long sleeve shirt, jeans and black house shoes. His height is 5 feet 8 inches, weight about 135 with black hair and facial hair and brown eyes. He is believed to have driven away in a black 2001 Honda CRV with the license plate F843829, according to a flyer distributed around the area.

Law enforcement has been concentrating its search around the Garden of the Gods, Herod and Hardin County regions. Harrisburg Police is the lead agency having taken the initial missing person's report.

Pope County Sheriff Jerry Suits said all his deputies have been patrolling, especially around Hogg Cemetery on Henry Hicks Road near Herod.

"About three or four weeks ago I was involved with him in the Herod community. His car was there, but we couldn't find him. I called his mother and she had heard from him in a while," Suits said.

Brown's father is buried in the cemetery. A friend found Brown walking in the woods nearby about 10 p.m.

"They were worried about him, but he was safe," Suits said.

Sunday afternoon Pope County Sheriff's Department received the report he was missing again.

"Every deputy I've got is out there several times every day," Suits said.

One deputy lives on Henry Hicks Road and checks the cemetery for signs of Brown's vehicle every few hours.

Saline, Hardin, Gallatin and Johnson county deputies are also checking rural areas.

"We, in particular, started looking at Garden of the Gods and various places. He told his mother in the past he was trying to find God so we thought of Garden of the Gods," Saline County Chief Deputy Ken Clore said.

The family asks anyone who has seen Brown to contact his mother, Tina, at (618) 499-9351 or the Saline, Pope or Hardin County Sheriff's Departments.
