Wayland “Bud” Perkins

Wayland "Bud" Perkins, age 78 of Harrisburg, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home.

He was born on Jan. 29, 1936, in Harrisburg to the late Lowden and Gladis (Thompson) Perkins. On Nov. 17, 1957, he married Norma Jamison and she survives.

Wayland is survived by his wife: Norma Perkins of Harrisburg; son: John (Janet) Perkins of Harrisburg; daughter: Susan (Gene) Allen of Raleigh; four grandchildren: John (Becky) Perkins of Harrisburg, Cole Perkins and fiancé Sarah Schmidt of Harrisburg, Justin Allen and fiance Kelsey Williams of Harrisburg and Kristi (Travis) Parks of Carrier Mills; three great-grandchildren: Mathew Perkins, Isaac and Tinley Parks.

Wayland was preceded in death by his parents and great-grandson, Luke Eugene Perkins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Jeff Owens will officiate. Burial will follow in Pierson Cemetery south of Harrisburg. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
