OBITUARY: Donnie L. Kimbro

Donnie L. Kimbro, age 80, longtime Ridgway resident, passed away Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, in Deaconess Hospital Evansville, Ind.

Donnie was born in Ridgway on Feb. 22, 1934, to the late Elmer and Lottie (Perry) Kimbro. Donnie served his country proudly for 23 years in the United States Air Force retiring a Master Sgt. He served time in Korea and two deployments to Vietnam. He retired from civil service. Donnie was married on Nov. 17, 1956, at the First Baptist Church in Ridgway to Billie (Thomas) Kimbro. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW in Ridgway, a Cold War Patriot and a member of the Ridgway Methodist Church.

Donnie over the years liked to garden, hunt and fish but will always be remembered for his kind and gentle nature always willing to help people. He was a wonderful husband, loving father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed.

Donnie is survived by his wife, Billie of Ridgway; a daughter, Linda (Danny) Butler of Harrisburg; a daughter, Phyllis (Danny) Mace of Shawneetown; a son, Charles Parrish of Tampa, Fla.; a brother Bud (Sue) Kimbro of Ridgway; a sister, Mary Zirkelbach of Ridgway; grandchildren, Austin Tuff Butler, Danielle (Mike) Gribble and Courtney Mace; great-grandchildren, Taylor Boone, Mace Gribble and Brittany Morse; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jackie and Jim Kimbro, and Charles Frailey; two sisters, Jerri Macannaly and Ester Johnson; and a grandson, Daniel Mace.

Visitation for Donnie will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway. The funeral will be on Monday, Dec. 8, 2014, at the funeral home starting at 2 p.m. The Rev. Keith Bradley will officiate and interment will follow at the Campground Cemetery near Ridgway with full military rites being performed by the Ridgway American Legion/VFW and Military Honors team.
