OBITUARY: Louise Powell
Louise Powell, age 82 of Stonefort, passed away on Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at the Harrisburg Medical Center.
She was born on Dec. 2, 1931, in Saline County, to the late Rev. R.V. and Ruth Stacy Stricklin. Louise was a Christian and lived her life so that others could see the love of Christ in her.
She Married Vernie Powell on July 9, 1949, and they had been married for 65 years.
She is survived by her husband, Vernie; a son, Gary Powell of Stonefort; three daughters, Carol (Terry) Sharp, Vickie (Jim) Hill, and Lori (Jack) Nolen, all of Harrisburg; daughter in law, Mary Powell of Harrisburg; grandchildren, Jarrod (Abigail) Sharp, Kim (Terry) Gwaltney, Ericka (Wes) Gwaltney, Alonna (Troy) Winchester, Debra (Gary) Threet, Tiffany Nolen and Jackson (Taylor) Nolen; several great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters: Shirley Miller and Linda (Amos) Richardson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Donald and Rick; two brothers, Hubert (Sonny) Stricklin and Danny Stricklin.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, at the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Keith Owens officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery. Friends called at the funeral home after 11 a.m. on Thursday.
