OBITUARY: Conard H. Butler

Conard H. Butler, age 79 of Harrisburg, passed away at 3:35 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

He was born April 29, 1935, in Harrisburg to the late Clyde and Verna (Crank) Butler. On March 1, 1957, he married Joanne (Mullinix) and she survives. Conard retired from the Harrisburg Water and Sewer Department after 40 and a half years. He was an Army Veteran and was named Soldier of the Year in 1961. Conard was past president of the Harrisburg Lions Club, a member of Local 318 Operating Engineers and a member of Dorrisville Baptist Church where he had held positions of trustee and usher and previously taught Sunday School. Conard was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener, and carpenter and dearly loved his 3 grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Joanne, he is survived by a son: Bruce and wife Joy Butler of Harrisburg; three grandchildren: Brenna Nicole Butler, Nathaniel Alan Butler and Brandon Alan Butler, all of Harrisburg; and brother: Leonard Butler of Harrisburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Glendel Butler.

Funeral service for Conard will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Chris Winkleman will officiate. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery in Harrisburg with Military Rites by the Harrisburg and Carrier Mills American Legion, VFW and National Guard. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg.
