Seven years of Red Ribbons for Galatia schools

For seven years, the Galatia Schools have been holding their "Red Ribbon Week" to promote the message of saying no to drugs.

The week's activities are focused on drug awareness and abuse prevention activities. Organized by Denise Stricklin, a teachers aide, the program has gained increasing support in the community.

On Wednesday this week, all of the districts students wore yellow T-shirts to show their support of the program. Stricklin is pleased with the support and popularity the program has garnered.

"I just want the local churches and businesses that have helped so much to get some credit for their support," Stricklin said.

Each year there has been a different theme for the "Red Ribbon Week" and this year the theme was, "Superheroes Don't Do Drugs."

Stricklin said that the district greatly appreciates all of the support the program has received in the last seven years and hopes to see it continue.
