Planned FFA 'Plow Day' Nov. 1 cancelled; too much work left to do in the fields
Joel Vancil of the Du Quoin FFA Alumni Association announced over the weekend that the planned Saturday, Nov. 1 "plow day" to benefit the FFA has been cancelled "due to late harvest conditions and a good portion of crops remaining in the field and trying to find uncut bean ground that has not already been sowed in wheat and able to be turned has proven to be a challenging task."
"In addition to this, many local farmers are still in the field shelling corn and cutting bears and will still be so at the beginning of November, hurting attendance."
"However, we do still plan on locating a tract of ground to host a first annual plow day and the process continues onward as we look to host this event sometime next summer following wheat harvest. If you have a tract of all tillable ground between 20 and 40 acres and would be willing to have your field plowed for a good cause, please contact me at (618) 571-1120."
I apologize for the short notice, but I do thank everyone for their support!"
