Prep Soccer: Revenge Of The 'Dogs

Carver Gregg, James Curtis and Anfernee Houston all scored goals in Harrisburg's 3-0 win over Anna-Jonesboro Thursday at Michael Herrin Field.

Harrisburg goal keeper Ryan Cowsert picked up the win, making 13 saves as the Bulldogs improved to 15-3 on the season.

Harrisburg assistant coach Mike Butler referenced the way the Bulldogs were warming up that they were ready for the challenge, noting that Anna-Jonesboro is one of the three losses that they have incurred and the team wanted this win desperately.

"We came into the game with Emil Loe and Garrett Proctor under the weather, so this had (assistant) coach Henk and myself very concerned," Butler said. "Emil just didn't feel well at all and started but returned to the bench for the remainder of the game. Garrett made it through the game, even though he hadn't felt very well all day."

The Bulldogs, who played to a 0-0 tie in the first half, went to work in the second half when Cody Morris found Houston open in the middle as Houston banged a hard shot for a goal.

Three minutes later, Morris provided an assist to Curtis and at the 53:20 mark when Gregg scored on a lone goal.

"Ryan Cowsert had a phenomenal game with 13 saves and our strong defense and midfield were relentless," Butler added. "This together with the consistency of our strikes made for a great game against a strong and well coached Anna-Jonesboro squad."

Harrisburg will wrap up its season next week when on Tuesday, the Bulldogs travel to Sikeston, Mo and will finish the regular season Thursday when they travel to Mt. Carmel.
