Prep Golf: Banner Day
It was a career day for Eldorado's Ashton and Taylor Goodley.
Each shot a record-low 4-under 32 in a triangular match at Shawnee Hills Country Club in Harrisburg.
Eldorado went on to a 155-171 win over Herrin, while Harrisburg didn't have enough players for a team score.
The previous low for the Goodley's was a pair of 33's. Those didn't come at the same time. Monday they did, which for father and head coach Greg Goodley was a special moment.
"They both played really solid rounds today," he said. "They managed the course better than I have ever seen them manage one before. Their club selection was practically spot on each time and when they had to recover, they did."
Ashton birdied four holes on the day, including three straight on No. 6, 7 and 8. Taylor birdied two holes and eagled the Par-5 No. 6. To her credit, Taylor birdied No. 9 to tie her sister for medalist honors.
Rounding out the scoring for Eldorado was Taylor Aldridge (45) and Jaclyn Artman (46). Sydney Tate shot and Kileigh Lowery each finished with a 54.
For Harrisburg, Alexa Burtis led the Bulldogs with a solid 39, while Gabriella Tison finished with a 49 and Skylar Street carded a 58.
On the boys side, Harrisburg rolled to a triangular win over Herrin and Eldorado shooting a 153.
The Tigers finished with a 177, while Eldorado had a 193.
Harrisburg's Ben Fowler took medalist honors with a 1-under, 35, while Patrick Bittle had a 38 and Ryan Williams finished with a 39.
Garrett Jenkins finished with a 41, while Camden Schiff carded a 44 and Bryce Beal added a 48.
The Bulldogs will look to claim the Ohio side of tomorrow's River-To-River Conference Golf Tournament (today) Tuesday at Hickory Ridge Golf Course, where Harrisburg head coach Michael Tison said his boys' mind may have been at Monday.
"I think they might have been looking ahead to conference today and left a few out there," Tison said.Ryan would have done better but had a 2 stoke penalty for hitting from the blue tees instead of the white tees. Patrick and Camden both played well today and shot before their averages. Mostly, it was great to see Ben get under par and play to his potential. I am excited to see I our teams chances at conference tomorrow."
Braydon Van Zant and Jack Mings had a pair of 46's for Eldorado, while John Amberger finished with a 48. Johnson had a 53 for the Eagles, while Rice and Cooker each finished with a pair of 54's.
