Prep Soccer: Harrisburg sees win streak snapped by Wildcats

All good things must come to an end, even if it is the unbelievable 11-game win streak the Harrisburg soccer team had coming into Monday's tilt at Marion.

With Bulldog head coach Mike Stewart sidelined for personal reasons, assistant coach Mike Butler called Monday's match, "fast paced on Marion's synthetic field."

A pair of goals by the Wildcats had Harrisburg looking for the comeback, but feel shot 3-1 for the final.

Adam Newman scored for Marion in the 28th minute of the first half and just 30 seconds into the second half, Jake Hardin made it 2-0 for the Wildcats.

The Bulldogs' rallying efforts came to life as Anfernee Houston scored for the Bulldogs in the 59th minute off an assist from Carver Gregg to make it 2-1, but Hardin scored again in the 67th minute to end the scoring.

Ryan Cowsert had four saves in the game as keeper and Harrisburg had 10 shots on goal, but found the back of the net only once.

On Saturday, Harrisburg not only celebrated Senior Day, but also the team's Pink Out For Cancer event as they knocked off Mt. Vernon 3-0.

The Bulldogs scored in the fifth minute of play when Gregg crossed the ball over the middle for a Houston score in the first half.

In the second half, Gregg scored and so did Cody Morris.
