BASEBALL: Tigers' season ends with Regional loss to Dodds

The Pinckneyville #204 baseball Tigers had their season come to an end on Tuesday at Dodds Elementary School in Mt. Vernon, falling 10-3 in the first round of their SIJHSAA Region III Tournament.

The Tigers grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning after Draeden Kreger was hit by a pitch and Anthony Baker doubled, but Dodds tied the game at 1-1 with a run in the bottom of the frame and took the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth after a four-run inning where they got two hits, drew a pair of walks and had a hit batter.

#204 tried to stay in it, cutting the lead to 5-3 in the top of the fifth when Zach Martin walked, Baker doubled and Andrew Stevers singled, but couldn't get any closer.

Kreger pitched well to start the game for the Tigers, giving up only one hit in the first three innings, but struggled a bit with his control in Dodds' big fourth inning. He finished the day with three and two-thirds innings pitched, allowing two hits and four walks. Baker and Lucas Teel finished up the game on the mound for #204.

Teel (2-4, 2B), Baker (3-4, 3 2B) and Stevers (1-4) had the Tigers six hits in the game.

Dodds moves on to Thursday's Regional semifinals in Ewing.
