Prep Volleyball: Bulldogs come back to beat Carbondale

Youth was served for Harrisburg in Monday night's volleyball victory over Carbondale.

Freshman middle Bryleigh Buchanan finished out the third set, serving four straight points, including one ace as the Bulldogs battled back to win 25-23.

Harrisburg won the first match 25-19 on the strength of good hitting and passing, but lost the second set 25-9.

"We pulled out a really tough win (Monday)," Harrisburg head coach Heather Cox said. "That first game we hit well and passed well, plus we came out confident and got the job done."

Cox noted the second match was a different story.

"We struggled all over the court and our passing was off, which means our offense couldn't get going."

Much like the second match, Harrisburg had problems in the early going of the second match, the Bulldogs dug themselves a hole, but continued to work hard to stay in the game.

"Even with three missed serves we were able to get the victory," Cox said. "That is huge for a freshman (Buchanan) to serve like that in the final points of a match. I thought Hayley Price played tough defense throughout the night and Lilee Robinson had some great sets that allowed for some big kills from Matty Hawkins."
