UPDATED: West Frankfort motorcyclist injured in crash

A West Frankfort motorcyclist was struck and injured by a Harrisburg driver at 2:04 p.m. Sunday on U.S. Route 45 just south of Hill Top Road near Ledford.

Angela R. Reid, 40, Harrisburg, was driving a Jeep Wrangler from her driveway onto U.S. Route 45, drove into the path of a motorcycle driven by Joseph J. Reese, 26, West Frankfort, and the motorcycle struck her vehicle, according to a release by Illinois State Police District 19 of Carmi.

Med Force EMS transported Reese to an Evansville, Ind., hospital.

Reid was not hurt and was cited on a charge of failure to yield.

ISP was assisted by the Carrier Mills Police, two Federal Bureau of Prisons Correctional Officers, Med Force EMS and Bishop's Towing.

CORRECTION: Due to an editor's error, the nature of the crash between a sport-utility vehicle and a motorcycle in the above story was wrong as originally published. The Jeep Wrangler drove from a driveway into the path of the motorcycle and the motorcycle struck the Jeep, according to the Illinois State Police. The story has been corrected.
