Help available for winter home heating
WADI will begin making appointments and taking applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program for the Southeastern Illinois counties of Edwards, Gallatin, Hamilton, Saline, Wabash, Wayne and White.
Appointments will be made for households containing any one of the following:
Persons 60 years of age or older
Persons who are permanently disabled (receiving disability benefits or having a disability approval letter)
Persons meeting the above criteria and are disconnected from one or both utilities.
Beginning Oct. 1, 2014, the following households can apply for LIHEAP:
Persons with a child under the age of 5
Homeowners with and unsafe or inoperable heating system, that meet any of the above criteria
Persons meeting the above criteria and are disconnected from one or both utilities
Beginning November 1, 2014, the following households can apply for LIHEAP:
General population will be able to make appointments/application for any of the above services
Appointments will be made for customers with disconnect notice
You will need to bring in the following to your appointment: Heating and electric bills, proof of income for 30 days prior to the appointment, social security cards for everyone in the household.
