OBITUARY: Alan Ray Price

Alan Ray Price, 66 of Harrisburg, passed away 7:05 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Marion.

He was born Oct. 31, 1947, in Harrisburg to Kenneth (Buck) and Freda Davis Price. On June 25, 1966, he married Jean Shaffer who survives. He worked at Caterpillar and later at the Harrisburg Daily Register. He attended Christian Life Fellowship Church. He was an Army Veteran and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a member of the Bloomington American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; one son, Chris and wife Jennifer Price of Eldorado; one daughter, Alana Price; son-in-law, Alan Vordtrede of Harrisburg; three brothers, Kenneth D. Price of Sturgis, Ky., Jerry Price of Harrisburg and Robert Price of North Chesterfield, Va., and one sister, Haroletta Yates of Pekin; 10 grandchildren, Whitney Miles, Shayna Hull, Sarah Lukancic, Amanda Price, Caitlyn Price, Raine Price, Brett Price, Maddyson Price, Adrien Price and Evan Price; six great-grandchildren, Carleigh Miles, Byntley Hull, Braxdyn Hull, Kendon Hull, Kevin Norris Jr. and Arianna Price.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles Hargrave and Larry Price; and three sisters, Helen Harrison, Mary Farmer and Shirley Hill.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenny Blumenstock officiating and burial in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Thursday at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home.
