OBITUARY: Ferne L. Whitaker Saul

Ferne L. Whitaker Saul, 96 of Eldorado, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at Fountain View Nursing Home in Eldorado.

She was born in Jackson County, IL on Jan. 27, 1918, to the late Clyde E. and Marjorie E. (Higgerson) Worthen. She worked as a nurses aid and she was a member of the Eldorado Gospel Assembly Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Delbert Whitaker on April 4, 1992, and her second husband, Chester Saul on April 11, 1997.

She is survived by her two sons: Robert Lee Whitaker and Darryl Lynn Whitaker; six grandchildren: Janice LeAnne, Robert Lee Jr., Nancy Denise, Gregory Charles, Julie Marie and Michael Lynn; and six great-grandchildren: Roxanne Nichole, Clinton Ryan, Autumn Dawn, Katherine Marie, Nichole Marie and Travis Angel; and two great-great-grandchildren: Jordan Thomas Parker and Trace Austin Mitchell. She is also survived by the grandchildren's mothers, Shirley and Carol. She is also survived by one sister, Billie Ruth Coulter of Los Angels, Calif.; and a sister-in-law, Geninda Worthen of Chicago.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Grover and Wayne Worthen; and five sisters: Elizabeth, Louise, Ruby Aileen, Billie and Pat.

Funeral services will be held noon Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at the Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado with the Rev. L D Jolly officiating. Burial will be in Lindale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time of noon at the funeral home on Friday.
