GOLF: Herrin holds off PCHS, DHS at Red Hawk
With a four-man score of 160, Herrin took first place amongst the four boys golf teams at Friday's match at Red Hawk Golf Course in Tamaroa, Pinckneyville was second (176) and Du Quoin third (183). Waltonville (208) rounded out the field.
Austin Whitby of Herrin shot a nine-hole score of 37 to claim the medalist award.
The Panthers were led by Alec Brand's 42. Also joining Brand in the top four for PCHS were Lee Wittenauer (44), Grant Thompson (44) and Jordan Grissom (46). Kyle Luke (49) and Thomas Huggins (56) also played for the Panthers on Friday.
Du Quoin's scorers included Ethan Keller (40), Jacob Valier (43), Noah Campbell (45) and Grant Woodside (55).
Pinckneyville is at Herrin with Goreville and Benton on Monday, the Indians are off until a trip to Carbondale on September 2.
