Annual Booster Club soap game to celebrate all sports at Du Quoin High School

The Du Quoin Booster Club will celebrate fall sports during next week's annual Gatorade game scrimmage night at the high school. Booster Club president Pete Patalas explained that the event has been moved to Thursday, Aug. 21 so that it does not conflict with the annual Du Quoin State Fair twilight parade on Friday night. Here are the particulars for Aug. 21.

Opening night has been moved to the Thursday before the Fair parade to help attract more people and alleviate the conflict that occurs.

This year the Booster Club is hosting a BBQ dinner cooked by Tracy Fenton from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in front of the football field. Cost for the dinner is $6 and includes a sandwich, baked beans, potato salad, drink and dessert.

Football T-shirts will be available for sale, along with other items.

Fall sports participants will then be introduced in no particular order and will include cheerleading, Indianettes, boys and girls golf, boys and girls cross country, volleyball and football team members.

The 2014 Indian Football team will then hold their usual scrimmage. After the football team is finished the crowd is invited into the new gym at the high school for a volleyball scrimmage hosted by new volleyball coach Jo C Dill and the Indian Volleyball team.

Outside of the cost of the meal, Patalas is asking each person to bring a bottle of Gatorade as admission into the field for the night.
