Plans for second Chris Harvey 5K run

All of the details have not yet been announced, but family friends and county officeholders are beginning to organize the second annual "Chris Harvey Owns the Night" 5K run.

It is a benefit planned for Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. and will start from the Perry County Courthouse to honor the memory of sheriff's deputy Chris Harvey, who died from brain cancer on Jan. 1, 2014 at the age of 26.

Last year's proceeds were used to help pay for medical costs. This year, the proceeds will go toward daughter Kylie Harvey's college fund.

The event is sponsored by the Perry County Circuit Clerk's office, the Perry County probation office, the Perry County State's Attorney's Office and the Perry County Sheriff's Department.
