Dist. 300 consolidates bus routes as part of deficit reduction

Below are the newly revised bus routes for Du Quoin Community Unit School District #300 for the 2014-15 school year. At the request of the district and board of education and in an effort to operate more efficiently, the District's transportation contractor, Durham School Services, has reconfigured its previous routes in to the following format. In addition, all routes are subject to the following guidelines:

1. No large band instruments on bus.

2. No large classroom projects on bus

3. Students assigned to only one bus (residence only)

4. Only eligible children can ride

5. One hour maximum for student on bus

Bus 2 (Homer Rains) Early Chicken

Early Chicken will load and leave school at 3:04 p.m. Heading west on Jackson. Turning left onto Madison, then right onto VanBuren. Turn right onto Washington, dropping at Kids R My Business. Heading north bus turns left at Adams St. Dropping students immediately after turn. Proceed across RR Tracks stopping at Division/South St. Proceed to Buttons & Bows dropping students. Proceed north up Division making drops along the way. Turn right at Grant. At stop sign turn right back onto Washington. Drop at Washington/Cole then at Washington/North. At North St. turn left dropping at F. Coles stop and then at Just like Home Daycare. Turn right head back to school for Late Chickens.

Late Chickens load and go directly to Youth Club.

Bus 14 (Kim Mathis) Sheep

Will load and leave school to head to high school to load. Leaving high school proceed to overpass turn left and drop. Proceed to Franklin/Maple dropping students. Proceed across Rt. 51 to the old McKinley school. Drop students. Turn left from Reed onto Linden. Turn right at stop sign to Park St. Drop at Howard/Park corner. Proceed to pool, pull in and drop students. Proceed east on Park turning right at Wells St. Proceed south on Wells dropping students. Turn right onto Quillman Road. Continue on Quillman all the way out to Kathleen Mine Road. At Kathleen turn left go to "T" stop sign and turn left. Follow Persimmon road dropping students back to Kathleen. Turn right onto Kathleen and continue toward Rt. 152. Dropping students along the way. Proceed back to bus lot.

Bus 5 (Sally Crain) Snake

Will load and leave school to head to high school to load. Leaving high school proceed to Kimmel Road. Cross RR Tracks turn left. Dropping students along Sunfield Rd. Turn right at City Lake Road. Proceed thru spillway following City Lake Rd. At Mailboxes (on left side) turn into city lake cabin area. Dropping students in that area, come back out to City Lake Rd. and turn left. Proceed to Willow Road. Follow it out to Kimmel Road. At Kimmel take a left heading east. Turn left onto Fir Tree Road. Follow around to City Lake Road take right to Thompson Rd.( Baumans stop, Feltmyers and Murrays). Proceed to Marlow road, then right onto Kimmel then left onto Pecan. Dropping children along the way to Sassafras. At Sassafras turn right and proceed back to bus lot.

Bus 8 (Denise Harrison) Monkey

Will load and leave school heading to high school to load. Leaving high school proceed to Poplar St. heading west. Dropping Poplar St. students. Cross overpass turn right and head out north on Rt. 51. Dropping St. Johns students, Smith's, and then turning left onto Hardscrabble Rd. Drop at last drive on Hardscrabble head back to 51. Turn left on 51 then turn left onto Bailey Lane. Come back out to 51 turn left. Dropping students along 51. At Rt. 51/ Rt. 154 intersection, take left pull into Crossroads Mobile Home Park. Drop students, back out and turn left onto 51 heading north. Turn right onto Pintail. Turning right, proceed down 154 until you turn left onto Hitt Road. Turn right onto Kimzy road, then right onto Gladson Road. Proceed back to 154 and turn right. Turn right onto Pecan Road, follow around to Boxelder Road where you turn right. Take Boxelder out to Rt. 154 then turn left onto Rt. 154. Then proceed back to bus lot.

Bus 9 (John Stanhouse) Butterfly

Loads and leaves school heading to high school to load. Leaving high school go to overpass turn right onto Rt. 51 then left onto West Main. Drop students at Hub Motel, Mobile Home Park. Turn right onto West St. Drop at West/Park intersection. Proceed north turn right onto North St. At North/Howard intersection drop students. Turn left onto Howard proceed dropping students. At Howard/Stacey turn right. Proceed to Rt. 51 turning left. Cross RR tracks and turn right at 6th street crossing RR tracks again. Take immediate left onto Oak. Turn around at end of Oak and proceed back to Cherry Lake Road. At stop sign on Cherry Lake rd turn left. Go down into Lake area, return back to Oak street head south. Follow Oak around to Division. Making drops along the way. Proceed back to bus lot.

Bus 10 (Leon Kelly) Turtle

Leave school and go to high school to load. Leaving high school proceed to Walnut/Park St. for drop at Kiddie Garden daycare. Proceed to Wells St. road. Continue south on Wells , to Greens Market Road, following it around to Six Mile Creek Road. Turn right onto Six Mile Creek road proceed to end of it dropping students. Turn around and head back out to Greens Market Road. Take Greens Market road east to Rt. 51. Continue south on 51 making student drops. At Beech road turn left. Turn into Arrow Wood Estates road, follow it around loop and come back out to Beech. Turn left proceed to Sweetgum Road where you turn left. Follow Sweetgum out to Rt. 14. At Rt. 14 stop sign turn right. Proceed on Rt 14 until you take a right onto Crabapple. Go into the bottoms and turn around coming back out to Rt 14. Turn right go left onto Old Rt 14. To Crabapple again. At Crabapple turn left go up hill drop students then go to stop sign. Turn right onto Rt. 14 then turn right back onto Old Rt. 14. Turn left onto Old Du Quoin Road and proceed back to bus lot.

Bus 15 (Lillian Rains) Lion

Leave school and go to high school to load. Leaving high school proceed to overpass then onto Hickory St. heading north. Drop students at Casey's. Proceed north to Handee Mart stop dropping students. Turn back and head to West Main St. Proceeding out of town heading west. Dropping students starting from ambulance service on. Continue west out to Cudgetown Road. Turn left at first road possible. Pull into Pick-Denny Road drop student. Back out to Cudgetown turn left to Tanglefoot Road. Follow around to top of hill, pull in drive drop students. Back out and head back to Cudgetown. Take Rt. 152 back to bus lot.

Bus 12 (Nancy Ragland) Dinosaur

Leave school and go to high school to load. Leaving high school turn left, turn again right onto Madison. Drop students. Proceed to Franklin turn right. Turn left onto Onstott and drop students behind Wheatley school. Turn right onto Poplar and then left onto Line St. Head north on Line. Drop at church on Line then at cemetery. Turn right onto Cole then right onto Leonard St. Proceed to Park St. and turn left dropping immediately after turn. Proceed east on Park following Park all the way to Brown Acres Rd. where you will turn right. Drop in students drive and back out to Park St. Take a left on Park then turn right onto Redwood Road follow it to Elderberry Road where you will turn left. Drop student then proceed to Park St. Road where you will turn right. Proceed back to bus lot.

Bus 13 (Dedrae McIntosh) Shark

Leaving school head to high school and load. Leaving high school turn right then right again to Olive. At Olive turn left and proceed east dropping students. At Olive/Howell stop sign drop students. Turn left drop students at Franklin St. stop sign, then proceeding north drop at Poplar St. stop sign. Turn right onto Main St. Drop at Main/Greenwood. Turn right onto Greenwood. Drop at Greenwood/Poplar then heading south drop at Greenwood/Franklin then again at Greenwood/South St. Continue on Greenwood to RR tracks out to Jackson St. Road. Take a left on Jackson. Dropping in Emling's Sub. Sign and Old Towne Est. sign. At stop sign for Jackson/Old Du Quoin Rd take a right. Dropping students along the way while heading south. At Majestic road turn left. Then right onto Mine Road. Then take Mine Road to Old Du Quoin Road again. Follow this out to Old Rt. 14. Continue to New Rt. 14 take a right head back to bus lot.

All routes will be run backwards for the A.M. routes. First pickups will be at approx. 6:30 a.m.
