OBITUARY: Barbara J. Potter

Barbara J. Potter, age 79 of Harrisburg, passed away at 5 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, at Shawnee Rose Care Center in Harrisburg.

She was born on Feb. 13, 1935, in Sturgis, Ky., to the late Robert H. and Lucille N. (Boston) McCaw. On July 2, 1957, she married Lloyd Earl Potter and he preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 1986.

Barbara is survived by four children: Timothy Prow of South Carolina, Cheryl (Steve) Smock of Harrisburg, Mary Potter of Muddy and Terry Potter Malone of Harrisburg; eight grandchildren: Collen Prow, Timon Prow, Matthew Murphy, Amber Browning, Christina Tate, Jenniffer Smith, Eric Malone and Barbara Malone; 14 great-grandchildren; brother: Robert (Sandy) McCaw of Sturgis, Ky.; two sisters: Helen (Boyd) Gray of Sturgis, Ky., and Lois Hester of Paducah, Ky.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack McCaw, Russell "Sparky" McCaw and Billy Joe McCaw; three sisters, Mary Lou Stine and Glenda and Carmen McCaw in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Ownly Williams will officiate. Burial will follow in Big Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel.
