Board meets on hires, dates and building

A few new faces and school scheduling were at the center of the Tuesday Harrisburg School District No. 3 board meeting.

New faces announced during the meeting in the media center at Harrisburg Middle School include Andrea Brigham as a full-time special education teacher's aide and high school physical education aide Jacob Morris.

Both Brigham and Morris and their positions were approved by a board vote on Tuesday.

Also, the Harrisburg High School prom is scheduled for May 7 and the board approved the 2016 high school graduation time and date for 8 p.m., May 14, at 8 p.m. at Taylor Field.

A portion of Tuesday's meeting was spent with the board is closed session discussing the construction of the high school gymnasium and school building. No board action was taken Tuesday on the project that was approved in April and will replace the gym and C-building, which is almost 100 years old. The ground breaking for the project took place Oct. 13 and construction is underway.
