OBITUARY: Geraldine "Jerry" Lambert

Geraldine "Jerry" Lambert of Corpus Christi, Texas, formerly of Harrisburg, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013.

She was born to Otis and Florence Ferrell on Dec. 2, 1923, in Hardin County. She was just 3 months shy of her 90th birthday. She had two sisters who both preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Susi Salinas (Corpus Christi, Texas), three grandchildren, Dana Barrera (Portland, Texas), Skylar Aud (Los Angeles) and Lee Hale (Austin). She also is survived by two great-grandchildren, Tayler Hill (Marion) and Nick Rodriguez (Portland, Texas).

She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Gina Hill and Tony Hill.

Jerry was a member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church and a life long resident of Harrisburg. She dedicated her time to the school district in various capacities. She loved her work - she was the head accountant for the School District in Harrisburg, for over 40 years until retirement when she moved to Texas to be near her daughter and grandchildren.

She loved gospel music and sang alto in a quartet along with her husband and two others, with her daughter Susi on the piano. The "Egyptianaires" opened for popular well-known groups such as the Blackwood Brothers, The Statesmen, the Gaithers and Marty Robbins.

She enjoyed cross stitching Precious Moments and loved NASCAR racing. If she had been able to pick her casket, it probably would have had flames on the side and a big yellow 24 (for Jeff Gordon).

Services were held in Corpus Christi, Texas, at Seaside Funeral Home, 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12.
