</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Barbara Mitchell, 77, of Marion passed away at 12:05 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2011, at her home.

According to her wishes, Barbara will be cremated and no services will be held. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes are at the Funeral Home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, P.O. Box 411, Marion, Ill. 62959.

Barbara was born on April 12, 1934, in Harrisburg to Orval and Lura (Panky) Lucas. She married Edward Brewer Mitchell on Feb. 4, 1951, in Saline County. He preceded her on March 3, 2011; shortly after celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.

Surviving are her children, Eddie and Carol Mitchell, Vicki and Wayne Morgan, Dennis and Leann Mitchell, Jerry and Jeri Mitchell, all of Marion and Jan and Steve McMichael of Richmond, Va.; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jerry Lee and Sandy Lucas of Ewing, Mo. and Ted and Teresa Lucas of Harrisburg.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Debra K. McCombs; two infant grandsons; eight sisters; and two brothers.

She was a homemaker, devoting herself to her family. Barbara loved to cook and bake, and spent a great deal of time reading her Bible.
