OBITUARY: Gary F. Siebert
Gary F. Siebert, 70 years, a resident of Eldorado, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013.
Gary was born on May 3, 1943, to the late Foster and Delores (Cripe) Siebert. He married Dicy (Dillard) Siebert on March 10, 1990, and she survives.
Gary was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. Gary's greatest enjoyment in life was raising his children, Amy and J.R. and in the most recent years, time spent with his grandchildren, Loxton and Gabriel. They loved to go on tractor rides with Papa and he adored them.
Gary received his bachelor's and master's degrees from SIU Edwardsville and his Education Specialist's and Education Administration Degrees from Eastern Illinois University. Gary was working towards his doctorate at Oakland City University.
Gary's greatest professional achievement was serving as Eldorado's School Superintendent for 27 years and Galatia's School system for eight years. He was very dedicated and loved his job. Gary served his early years as school superintendent in other districts, totaling 47 years in education. He was also an instructor for many years at Southeastern Illinois College and Frontier Community College.
Gary was a active member of the community. He currently serves as a member of the Saline County Board where he has served for 15 years, he also served on the Police Pension Board, Eldorado Rotary Club, Eldorado Son's of the American Legion post No. 169, Eldorado Men's Club, Galatia Masonic Lodge No. 684 AF & AM, the Saline County Sheriff's Association, as well as being long-standing member and former president of the Saline County Chamber of Commerce and former president of the WOVSED Board.
Gary is survived by his wife Dicy (Dillard) Siebert, a daughter Amy (T.J.) Zurliene, a son Gary Siebert Jr. of Eldorado, a brother Danny (Lena) Siebert, a son/grandson Gabriel Siebert, a son Stephen Siebert and stepchildren, Sherry (Jim) Williams, Kevin Stricklin, Donna (Tim) Stotlar and Lia Milstead.
Gary is survived by his grandchildren, Loxton Zurliene, Maisee Siebert, Jeremy Williams, Tiffany (Phil) Nyberg, Jennifer (Frankie) Bourland, Greg Stricklin, Scott (Stormy) Stricklin, Anthony Stotlar, Jon Stotlr, Brista (Justin) Barrington, Brittany (Kreig) Taylor, Brandy Questelle (Michael Riden), Sarah Siebert, Justin Siebert and Stephen Siebert Jr. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at the Eldorado High School Cafeteria. The Rev. Randy Plunkett will officiate. Burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at the Eldorado High School Cafeteria. Masonic services will be 1 p.m. Friday by the Galatia Masonic Lodge just prior to the funeral service.
The family suggest instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gary F. Siebert Memorial Scholarship. Envelopes will be available at the school.
