Bonnie Penrod

Bonnie Penrod, age 95, of Harrisburg, passed away at 2:20 AM, Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Harrisburg Medical Center. She was born on November 15, 1920 in New Burnside, IL, to the late Arthur and Noma (Watkins) Cavitt. She married Lewis M. "Penny" Penrod on May 4, 1940 and he preceded her in death on September 22, 2013.

Bonnie was a homemaker and a member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church in Harrisburg. She and Lewis were honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from McKinley Ave.

Bonnie is survived by her daughter: Myra and husband Barry Bascom of Harrisburg; daughter: Roslyn Hasty of Cincinnati, OH; son: Wendell and wife Vicki Penrod of Benton, IL.; and daughter: Pam and husband Joel Bond of Harrisburg; 3 grandchildren: Dawn Brown of Galatia; Chris and wife Marci Hasty of Columbus, OH and Jason Penrod of Indianapolis, IN.; 4 great-grandchildren: Kelsey, Kylee and Keaton Brown of Galatia and Maren Penny Hasty of Columbus, OH; bros: John Cavitt of Vienna; and Jesse Cavitt of Manteno, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister and 4 brothers and her son-in-law: Jay Hasty.

Funeral services were held at 2PM, Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Rev. Billy Dye, Jr. officiated. Burial was in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation was from 12:00 Noon to service time at 2 PM, Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to McKinley Ave. Baptist Church and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
