Wathene Kennedy Littrell

<span style="font-family: Times New Roman,serif;">Wathene Kennedy Littrell, 87, of Mount Vernon, Ill., died April 9 2016 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. Wathene was born Aug. 1, 1928, in Mount Vernon to John Elvis and Ada Leona (Palmer) Smith. She first married Glen C. Kennedy and he preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1968. She later married Glenn Litrell on Aug. 8, 1970. Wathene loved being with her children and grandchildren, was an exceptional cook, and enjoyed Country Western Line Dancing and bowling.</span>

<span style="font-family: Times New Roman,serif;">Wathene is survived by her husband: Glenn Littrell of Mount Vernon, Illinois; Four Children: Sheila Piper and husband Ben of Mount Vernon, Illinois; Jackie Monroe and husband Gale of Davenport, Florida; Larry Kennedy and wife Jill of Crestwood, Kentucky; Peggy Black and husband Rich of Waynesboro, Virginia. Grandchildren: Todd Piper and wife Gail; Ryan Piper and wife Stephanie; Gayla Woodward and Ed Zausch; Brian Monroe and wife Kimber; Michelle Kennedy; Meagon Kennedy; Jalyn McClure; Melissa Conley; Barry Black; and Kim Thacker and husband Travis. Two Stepdaughters: Beth Persinger and husband George of Omaha, Illinois; Toni Houseworth and husband Ricky of Belle Rive, Illinois.</span>

<span style="font-family: Times New Roman,serif;">Great Grandchildren: Benjamin Piper, Christopher Hoyt Piper, Maggie Piper, Eli Piper, Gregory Woodward, Hank Woodward, Eli Woodward, Lance Monroe, Gwen Monroe, Paige Monroe, Mitchell Conley, Kelley Conley, Logan Thacker, and Liam Thacker.</span>

<span style="font-family: Times New Roman,serif;">Her parents, brothers, sisters, grandson: Christopher Eugene Piper, and two grandsons-in-law: Bob Woodard, Jr. and Gregg Conley preceded her in death.</span>

<span style="font-family: Times New Roman,serif;">Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with the Reverend Merle Fullerton officiating. Visitation will be from noon to service time. Interment will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois.</span>

<span style="font-family: Times New Roman,serif;">For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Mount Vernon Kiwanis Club and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mount Vernon, Illinois 62864.</span>
