H.T. (Tom) Hopkins Jr., 85, Eldorado

H.T. (Tom) Hopkins Jr., 85, of Eldorado, died, February 22, 2106 in Carrier Mills.

Tom was born in Detroit, MI on April 14, 1930 to the late H.T. Sr. and Racheal (Harrison) Hopkins. Tom was a Correctional Officer at the Vienna Correctional Center where he retired in 1995 after 20 years of service. He was an Army Veteran. And he was a member of the Eldorado First Baptist Church. Tom was a past Master of the Walpole Masonic Lodge and a life member of the McLeansboro Masonic Lodge. He was also a life member of the Eldorado V.F.W and a member of the Eldorado American Legion.

In December of 1955 he married the former Betty Thompson and she preceded him in death on November 7, 2012. Tom is survived by his 2 sons: Jim Hopkins and Daryl Hopkins both of Eldorado. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren: Allan (Eva) Duer, Clinton Hopkins and Jesse Hopkins and 2 great great grandchildren: Noah and Elizabeth. Also surviving is a sister Evalee Delancey of Drumwright, OK. He was preceded in death by a son Dale Hopkins in 1986, 2 brothers: Donald Ray and Bill Hopkins and 2 Daughter-In-Laws: Rachael and Elizabeth Hopkins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 27, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Watson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery with Military Rites. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. A masonic service will be said at 7:00 PM.
