BOYS BASKETBALL: Devils down Falcons, 75-38

Sesser-Valier put a whipping on Elverado Tuesday night, getting double-digit scoring efforts from four different players in a 75-38 win over the Falcons in Elkville.

Zane Wilson scored 14 of his game-high 17 points in the first quarter to help the Devils get out to a 24-5 lead through eight minutes of game action.

The Falcons played better in the second quarter, but were simply unable to stop Sesser-Valier's offense. The Devils outscored Elverado 19-13 in the second quarter and led 43-18 at the break.

"I told the kids after the game I bought we played in spurts," said EHS head coach Jacob Emling. "Spurts of good and spurts of bad. We had a few possessions in the first half and the first four minutes of the third quarter where we scored off some of our sets and out-of-bounds plays and looked good running some offense."

"Our bad spurts were when we had bad spacing offensively and didn't see the basketball on the defensive end. Sesser is a good team, probably the best defensive team we have seen all year. They really make things difficult on the offensive end, you have to give them some credit."

Alec Valerius hit five three-point baskets - three of them in the fourth quarter - and led the Falcons with 19 points. Sage Sarensen added 10 points, Aquntez Penn had 4, Kevin Bruce and Jaydn Christian each finished with 2, and Clayton Berger had 1.

Elverado will travel to Wolf Lake (Shawnee) this Friday night.
