Girls Prep Hoops: Hobbs, Burtis both reach 1,000th point plateau
On a day when the Harrisburg High School girls' basketball team got a pair of wins, two of its players also reached a milestone as well.
Alexa Burtis and Kelsey Hobbs both went over the 1,000th point mark in their career in the nightcap of a 55-29 win over Vienna at the Herrin Invitational.
Burtis came into the tournament 19 points shy of 1,000, while Hobbs was 48 points away.
The two went to work in the opener Saturday morning when Harrisburg knocked off Christ Our Rock Lutheran 65-45, where Hobbs had a game-high 26 points to go along with Burtis' 16 points.
The total moved Burtis three points closer, while Hobbs needed 22 more.
The two didn't waste much time as each did just enough.
Hobbs had 22 points on 8-of-17 shooting in the win over Vienna, while Burtis went to 1,001 with four points.
