WRESTLING: Panthers beat Carlyle for second win
It was a struggle in the Panthers' opening match of the night against Sparta, but after suffering a lopsided defeat to the Bulldogs, Pinckneyville rebounded with their second team win of the season in the nightcap with Carlyle, 42-33.
PCHS's Collier Neville (113 lbs.) defeated Sparta's Andrew Carter for the Panthers only non-forfeit win in the early match of the evening, but five Pinckneyville grapplers accomplished the feat against the Indians - Jordan Koester (138 lbs.), Blaine Riley (152), Grant Murphy (160), Andrew Stevers (195) and Jeremy Opp (220) all won against Carlyle.
Neville and Eva Castleberry (106) won on forfeits against the Indians, as did Faleshia Quillman (152) against Sparta.
Pinckneyville's varsity wrestlers are in action again at Carterville on December 29.
