BOYS BASKETBALL: Jr. Panthers 15-0 after wins over Chester, Benton

Now 15-0, the Junior Panthers continued to plow through their schedule this week with lopsided victories over Chester and Benton on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

The home victory over Chester was a blowout early, as Devin Kitchen scored 12 of his 14 points in the opening quarter, which ended with Pinckneyville on top 32-6.

Three other Jr. Panthers also finished the game in double figures - Dawson Yates (16 points), Derek Rohlfing (14) and Noah Carter (11). Hunter Riggins added 8 points, Ty Fleming had 5, Colton Priebe 4, and Dre Scott 2.

It was more of the same the following night at Benton, as PJHS raced out to a 23-2 lead after just one quarter of play. Yates had 9 first-quarter points, Devin Kitchen had 8. The pair finished with 18 points and 23 points respectively.

Riggins had 13 points against Benton, Carter 6, Rohlfing and Fleming each had 4 and Scott 2.

PJHS travels to Murphysboro on Monday and Nashville on Thursday for their final two games in 2015. They'll get a break before a January 4 matchup at Trico, then return home on January 7 for a high-profile rematch with Du Quoin.
