Sheriff's office arrests three in connection to residential burglary

<span>In a Tuesday news release, Randolph County Sheriff Shannon Wolff announced the arrests of three Steeleville residents after a Sunday residential burglary in Percy.</span>

<span>Twenty-nine-year-old Anthony J. Hagene, 25-year-old Bethany N. Moore and 23-year-old Christopher B. Liter, were arrested Monday on charges of residential burglary. </span>

<span>The arrests are the result of a combined effort by the sheriff's office, K-9 Deputy "Dano," sheriff's office Crime Scene Technician Jonathan Barbour, Steeleville Police Department, Percy Police Department, Union Pacific Railroad Police and the Randolph County State's Attorney's office. </span>

<span>Hagene, Liter, and Moore allegedly burglarized a residence on Streamline Road and allegedly stole firearms, jewelry, cash and other items.</span>

<span>Wolff stated items stolen during the burglary, as well as drugs, were recovered during the investigation. Dano was used to do an article search on railroad property near the crime scene and located two firearms and other stolen items.</span>

<span>Wolff told the Herald Tribune the items were found stashed underneath a train car, but atop the axle.</span>

<span>"We most likely would not have found that if (Dano) wasn't with us," Wolff said. "It was great to see him used that quickly."</span>

<span>All three suspects were still incarcerated at Randolph County Jail as of Tuesday afternoon. Bond for Moore and Liter is $50,000 each, while Hagene has a $250,000 bond.</span>

<span>"It seems like lately we've had quite a few burglaries, but I know we've been solving a bunch too," Wolff said. "We have a good crew of guys and a good crime scene tech."</span>
