Two-vehicle accident on Wine Hill Road results in minor injuries
A two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Wine Hill Road and Troue Lane resulted in minor injuries to two people on Monday afternoon.
According to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office accident report, a 1980 Ford F600 grain truck - driven by 51-year-old Randy Troue of Percy - was headed west along Wine Hill Road and began to turn left onto Troue Lane.
The F600 was then struck on the driver's side by a 1990 Dodge Dakota driven by 62-year-old Bruce Leggans of Gorham.
Leggans and a passenger, 56-year-old Delores Clough of Murphysboro, were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The accident report states Troue told first responders that he had his left turn signal activated. Leggans reportedly said he did not see he was in an intersection (despite a nearby street sign) or see the F600's turn signal.
The report further states Leggans passed the F600 within 100 feet of the intersection and struck the larger vehicle in the intersection, pushing both vehicles to the edge of a ditch on Troue Lane.
The Dakota then caught fire, which was put out by Troue. Leggans was cited for improper passing at an intersection.
