Train collision injures man
A Carrier Mills man was taken to the hospital Friday morning after his van and a train collided.
Candaso A. Murphy, 39, was driving a 1994 Ford Van around 3:45 a.m. on Harco Road where a train struck his van broadside in it crossing the tracks near State Route 34.
The train dragged Murphy's van a few feet before it came to a stop. The Canadian National train was heavy with coal and traveled nearly two miles before it could come to a stop. No one on the train was injured.
A Saline County deputy and emergency medical services responded to the wreck. Murphy was taken to Harrisburg Medical Center with minor injuries and cited for failure to yield at a train crossing. Winters Towing removed the inoperable van from the scene.
