Where there's a peach there's a way.
Harrisburg High School's newest theater production will be traveling to new heights. James and Giant Peach has been chosen to go to a state level theater festival.
Hannah Drake, arts director for the Harrisburg school district is ecstatic to have, yet again, a production that will be attending The High School Theatre Festival hosted at Illinois State university.
"I was super excited when I found out," said Drake. "Last year we took Charlotte's Web, now we get to see what we can do with something much bigger."
James and The Giant Peach is a musical and creates bigger challenges for the logistics of travel. There are lights, sound and changes to be made with the structure of the show in order to make it fit.
Drake will be making changes to the shows structure over the holiday break and will start working on touch up rehearsals sometime in the beginning of January. The event will be Jan. 7-9.
"The kids really enjoyed all the songs, they are different from the movie, it is very well written," said Drake.
The high school group will be putting on Mary Poppins this coming March. Drake is very excited as they will be bringing in a group out of Chicago to handle all of the shows flying and special effects.
"We don't want it to look like just any high school show," said Drake.
The next thing on the arts director's plate is the Winter Concert, which will take place at 2 p.m. on Dec. 13 in Davenport Gymnasium and is a free concert.
