Rhoda Elizabeth Moore, 90, Monticello

Rhoda Elizabeth Moore of Monticello, Illinois went to be with her Lord, Friday, November 20, 2015 at Kirby Medical Center in Monticello. She celebrated her 90th birthday on June 29, 2015. Visitation will be Monday, November 23, 2015 from 10:00 - 11:00 am with a Celebration Service to follow at 11:00 am at the Church of the Nazarene, Monticello with the Rev. John T. Barker, officiating. Interment will be Tuesday, November 24, 11:00 am at Westwood Cemetery, Shawneetown, Illinois. She was born on June 29, 1925, to Charles Clarence and Effa Malinda (Floyd) Moore in Harrisburg, Illinois. Miss Moore graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Elementary Education and taught over 30 years in the Bement and Monticello Schools, followed by another 20 years as a tutor. She was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene, serving over fifty years on the church board and as Sunday school teacher in which she received the Distinguish Service Award from the Global Church of the Nazarene.

Miss Moore was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Nathanial John, sister, Dorcus Rebecca Moore , niece, Mary Jo Rister, and lifelong friend, Virginia Ritthaler. Survived by nephew, John Charles Moore (Patty), Harrisburg, Illinois; six great nieces and nephews; thirteen great-great nieces and nephews; ten great-great-great nieces and nephews.

Memorials will be given to a scholarship fund in Miss Moore's honor for Elementary Education majors at Olivet Nazarene University, Bourbonnais, Illinois. Mackey-Wright Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to family at www.mackey-wrightfuneralhome.com
