The Harrisburg High School girls' basketball team got off on the right foot to start the season Wednesday night, handing Galatia an 80-27 loss at Davenport Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs (1-0) put three players in double figures as they made quick work of the Bearcats, jumping out to a 24-7 first quarter lead.

Matty Hawkins scored six for Harrisburg, while Toni Crisp finished with five. Jenny Buchanan tossed in four, while Karsyn Davis tacked on three. Hannah Bartok, Brook Meylor, Madeline Rider and Lilee Robinson all had two points.
Galatia (0-1) was led by Becky Gregory's 12 points, while Kassidy Rizor and Kennedy Harris each scored six points. Makayda Irvin tacked on two and Kelsi Watson tossed in a free throw.
Harrisburg held Galatia to 9-of-33 shooting, while the Bulldogs knocked down 33-of-73 from the field, including a 3-for-13 clip from beyond the arc. At the free throw line, Harrisburg finished 11-for-17.
Harrisburg head coach Jake Stewart didn't see much in terms of first game jitters, saying his team was more anxious than nervous to get the season started.
"I thought we played well, hard and I was happy with the way we moved the ball. Having the four seniors that we have, I knew we would be ready to play.
