Pinckneyville water employee case continued
The case against a City of Pinckneyville water department employee charged with theft has been continued in Perry County Circuit Court. Attorney Patricia Gross appeared on behalf of Tonya Morgan and the case was continued until the March 2016 jury docket with a hearing scheduled on January 13, 2016 at 9 a.m. for the court to hear whether there is a chance for a plea agreement.
Class 1 felony theft charges were filed against the 38-year-old secretary and assistant utility clerk for the City of Pinckneyville in September.
According to the original complaint filed in Perry County Circuit Court employee Tonya D. Morgan "knowingly exerted unauthorized control over property of the City of Pinckneyville, being U.S. currency in an amount greater than $10,000, but less than $100,000 intending to deprive the City of Pinckneyville permanently of use of the property.
