Steeleville FD responds to combine fire

<span>The Steeleville Fire Department responded to a combine on fire in a field on Saturday afternoon on Shawneetown Trail near Glober Road.</span>

<span>According to Steeleville Village Clerk Becky Kiehna, the report lists a person named Kiersten Eyman. Eyman contacted the Herald Tribune and said she was the one who called 911 and reported the fire.</span>

<span>The driver's name is unknown at this time, but a witness reported seeing the individual walking away from the machine.</span>

<span>The land is owned by Dale Korando, of Jacob.</span>

<span>Firefighters were paged out at 2:46 p.m. and had the fire controlled at 3:30 p.m. Fire units were back in service 15 minutes later.</span>

<span>The combine was ruled a total loss with an estimated cost of $250,000. Steeleville Fire Chief Carlos Barbour told the Herald Tribune he had no additional information at this time.</span>
