VOLLEYBALL: Lady Falcons win at Meridian in straight sets

The Lady Falcons took a long trip to Meridian on Thursday night and came back home with a straight set victory, 25-12, 25-17.

Ellie Winthrop led EHS on offense with 4 kills, Allie Whittington added 3, Tori Ehlers 2. Baylie McClanahan and Emma Bigham each had 3 assists.

"It was a long bus ride there and a long bus ride back, I'm glad it was after a win," said EHS head volleyball coach Donette Wheatley. "We played and looked a little rough tonight. We have got to step it up for our games next week. It's always tough having games during homecoming week, too many other outside activities going on and we tend to lose focus."

Elverado was victorious in the junior varsity game, too, winning 25-9, 25-22. Jessica Elson's 4 kills led the way.

EHS (9-7, 6-0) hosts Century on Tuesday and Cobden on Thursday next week.
