The Harrisburg High School boys' golf team earned a dual match victory over Eldorado Thursday afternoon at Shawnee Hills Country Club, beating the Eagles 152-198.
Ben Fowler took medalist honors with a 34, while Patrick Bittle wasn't far behind with a 35. Garrett Jenkins added a 41 for the Bulldogs, while Bryce Beal rounded out the four-person scoring with a 42.
Also playing for Harisburg was Jacob Mills (43) and Camden Schiff (48).
Eldorado was led by a 43 from Jack Mings, while Ben Byrd carded a 49. Sam Coker tossed in a 51 and Ely Boulds finished with a 55. Josh Rice played as an individual, shooting a 61 for the Eagles.
EHS girls split in triangular
WEST FRANKFORT - The Eldorado girls' golf team spilt in triangular action last week as West Frankfort won the event with a 196, beating the Eagles (205) and Murphysboro (224).
Jacqlyn Artman shot a season low 43 for Eldorado, while Klieah Lowery added a 51 for the Eagles. Keely Tate added a 54, while Derian Corn shot a 57.
Olivia Parker had a 60 for EHS and Ashlyn Sizemore had a 66 as the two played as individuals.
Eldorado head coach Greg Goodley said there is still some work that needs to be done, but he is seeing improvement in the their scores.
"Ball striking is an issue right now, which is costing us strokes. They will keepworking on it and improving."
