Richard Harper

Richard Harper, 80 of Harrisburg, passed away 8:15 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2015, at his residence. He was born September 22, 1934, in Harrisburg the son of John T. and Ruby M. Beam Harper. He first married Murlene Rice and she preceded him in death December 29, 2005, and he later married Ruby McDaniel Harding and she survives. He was a 20 year Army Veteran serving two tours in Vietnam after which he worked 20 years with the Department of Defense. Richard was a member of Dorrisville Baptist Church.

Surviving Richard are his wife Ruby, 2 daughters Missy & Dave Davis of Canton, IL and Susan & John Brown of Sparta. 1 stepson Jeffrey Harding of Bluford and 1 stepdaughter Pam Finley of Harrisburg. 6 grandchildren, Sierra Harper, Ruby Davis, John Davis, Shelby Brown, Brody Harding and Cory Diefenbach. 1 brother in law Ronnie McRoy of Eldorado and 3 sister in laws, Mary Jean Woolard of Harrisburg, Rita Bradshaw of Vienna and Joan Rice of Harrisburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister Carol McRoy and a grandson Josh Diefenbach

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2015, at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home with the Rev. Dewayne Taylor officiating and burial with Military rites at Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2015, at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home.
