Prep Volleyball: Eagles split over weekend

The Eldorado High School volleyball team wrapped up the weekend, going 2-for-2 at the Carrier Mills-Stonefort Tournament.

The Eagles were able to knock off Vienna in straight sets, winning 25-11 and 25-20 and then needed three sets to get by Gallatin County, before winning 25-13, 20-25 and 15-11.

The two losses on the weekend came to the hands of Crab Orchard, who won in three sets, and a straight set win for Norris City-Omaha-Enfield.

Top stats for the tournament in the Crab Orchard game included a 4-for-4 setting performance from Mary Mitchell, who also went 13-for-15 on spikes with one kill and 9-for-11 on serves with nine points, two aces, one block and 13 digs.

Rachel Durham was 19-for-19 on sets and 3-for-3 on spikes with five points and nine digs, while Abby Steed, who was named to the All-Tournament team over the weekend, went 6-for-7 on sets against Crab Orchard and was 20-for-22 on spikes had eight kills and was 5-for-6 on serves with six points and 14 digs.

Lexi Clore had eight points and nine digs, while Kaitlyn McGuire was six-for-six on serves with six points, two aces and five digs. Jordan Bailey was 5-for-7 on spikes with seven digs.

Madison Newton finished four-for-four at the line with four points and one dig, while Whitney McGuire was 1-for-1 on sets with eight service points and five digs.

In the loss to NCOE, Mitchell was 5-for-5 on sets with 15 spikes and three kills. She also went 7-for-7 at the serve line with six points, two blocks and nine digs.

Durham was 15-for-15 on sets with four spikes and had six points and nine digs, while Steed went 4-for-4 on sets and had 18 spikes and four kills, to go along with, two points and 11 digs.

Clore had four points and six digs, while Kaitlyn McGuire had six digs.

Bailey was four-for-four on spikes with one kill, two blocks and seven digs.

Newton went 3-for-3 on sets with two spikes and one dig, while Whitney McGuire was 1-for-2 on sets and one spike.

April Summers had one spike, four points, one ace and two digs, while Samantha Boulds had one spike and Kaitlyn Etienne had three digs.

In the win against Vienna, Mitchell finished 2-for-2 on sets with 16 spikes and four kills. She went 12-for-13 on serves with 13 points, four aces and 10 digs, while Durham was 9-for-11 on sets with three spikes, five points, one ace and nine digs.

Steed went 6-for-6 on sets with 18 spikes, nine kills, three points, one block and 17 digs.

Clore had eight points and 18 digs, while Kaitlyn McGuire had four points and two digs.

Bailey had two kills and seven digs, while Newton was 13-for-13 on sets with one point and two digs.

In the final game against Gallatin County, Mitchell was 5-for-5 on sets and 19-for-23 on spikes with four kills. She finished 17-for-17 on serves with 14 points, three aces and 14 digs.

Durham had 33 sets, two spikes, 16 points and 13 digs, while Steed had seven points, three blocks (all kills) and 15 digs.

Clore went 2-for-3 on sets with two spikes, eight points and 20 digs, while Kaitlyn McGuire had six points and 14 digs. Jordan McGuire was 8-for-8 on sets with 10 spikes, four kills and seven digs, while Whitney McGuire was 3-for-3 on sets with one spike and three digs.
