Samuel E. "Sam" Pankey

Samuel E. "Sam" Pankey, age 68, of rural Harrisburg passed away 2:10 a.m., Sunday, September 13, 2015, in the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Sam was born on October 31, 1946 in Pontiac, MI to the late Carl and MaryBelle Knight Pankey.

He married Jackie Harris on June 22, 1996 and she survives. Sam retired as a truck driver.

He is survived by his wife; Jackie, children; Michael Pankey-Ortonville, Mi, Kimberly Pankey-Waterford, MI, and Chad Pankey of Harrisburg, IL. Step-sons; Mike (Heather) Scott -Ozark, IL

Andy (Susan) Scott-Eldorado, IL and Justin (Tina) Scott of Galatia, IL

Grandchildren; Cole Scott, Jay Scott, Gus Scott, Titan Scott, Carlyn Scott, Preston Scott, Gage Scott, Codey Duncan, Katey Scott, Sierra Scott, and Jennifer Scott.

Great-grandchildren; Emma Anderson, Allie Mae Rheude, Braxton Duncan, and Stefan Duncan.

Brother; Wendell (Jerry Herring) Pankey of Herrin, IL, sister; Carlia (Brian) Cichon of Metamor, MI. and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday-September 16, 2015 at the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Bobby Gentry officiating.

Cremation will follow the service.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the preferred choice of remembrance would be memorials to the Spring Valley Cemetery in his memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
