SOFTBALL: Elverado pitcher Funk tosses perfect game

Elverado junior high softball pitcher Emma Funk was absolutely perfect in Friday's win over Tamaroa-St. Bruno, going 3-for-3 at the plate and throwing a five-inning perfect game in the pitching circle to carry the Lady Falcons to a 10-0 win.

Funk fanned 10 of the 15 batters she faced and was involved in four of the five plays made in the field by the Elverado defense.

Funk (3-3, 2B), Hayli Havens (1-3), Zoe Maple (1-2, SAC), Mallory Brooks (1-3, HR), Chloe Barnes (2-3, 3B), Kaity Lewis (1-3), Trenity Huff (2-3, 2B), Sydney Schenk (1-2) and Lily Black (1-2) all had hits for the Lady Falcons, who are currently 12-6 overall heading into Monday's game at Du Quoin.
